Endless possibilities: the haves and hopes of a doctor

What this work has given me

I have learnt it is possible 

To hear when no words are spoken 

To see though darkness surrounds

To touch without laying hands on 

To sense when perception confounds  

I have found it is possible

To do nothing and yet be everything

To give love from a broken heart

To share more than you have within you

To be united though you’re apart 

I have seen it is possible 

To hope when all seems hopeless

To feel joy in the depths of despair

To be sure when all is uncertain

To find meaning in what one must bear 

I have shared it is possible 

To be healed without being cured

To die whole though broken and scarred

To live on even after your passing

To inspire from beyond death’s façade   

I hope it is always possible 

To keep searching for what lies within us 

To value our common humanity’s heart 

To keep asking what matters most 

To make compassionate healthcare an art
